I read this article earlier and I guess it was written to lead the reader to believe that they were JW's. Although it's sad that she lost her husband, what is the point of them writing that article? The meaning of it escapes me. Maybe you can help me understand.

i'm hoping nobody already did a thread on this.
but who of you were good boys and girls this year?
what was the best thing that santa brought you?
I know you asked about "this year's" gifts, but I have to share a story with you. I am 32 years old. When I was about 7 or 8, all I wanted for christmas was the NFL Electric Football Game. You know, the one that sounds like an electric razor on crack and the players vibrate up and down the field! I woke up about 6:00 AM christmas day, ran downstairs and saw a gift wrapped up about the same size as the Football game. I was so excited. I ripped off the wrapping and it turned out to be one of those hockey games where you swat around the puck using knobs. I was soooooooo disappointed! :o( I hated hockey! I still never received a valid explanation of why my parents bought me that dumb (IMO) hockey game! I still yearn for the Electric Football game!

"You know very well that the elders keep anything relating to the body of brothers locked up tight. The congregation does not receive that information. "
LisaK-It's in the Kingdom Ministry. The congregation does receive this information. Just an FYI.

well after lurking for a year i figure it's time to start giving back and geting views on my own thoughts, here we go.
my wife (a jw i'm not)was saying lastnight that she felt bad because she only got 2 hrs this month so far (going out all day today).
never mind the fact she's started to volunteer at a childrens hospital.. .
Hello, Bandit.
This is my first post. This coming Monday, I was going to start a thread regarding Field Service time. What I was going to say (Heck! I will still post it Monday) was, in one of the recent magazines in 2002, there are some examples of three spiritual sisters. Unfortunately, I do not have the magazine with me at this very moment, but what I remember about it bothers me. The first example was said to be a sister who goes out and preaches for 70 hours a month. The next sister was said to preach 50 hours a month. The third sister, while her hours weren't displayed, was desribed as a "zealous" person. My thought on that article were: a) Why is it necessary to display any of their hours? Why couldn't they give their examples without showing their hours? b) Who really is zealous? If I get 8 hours a month, am I not zealous? c) Would the Society ever put an example like this in their mags?: "Joe Publisher, who goes out and preaches 6 hours a month, met a man at a bus stop...now the man and his family are all faithful Witnesses." Ah, but they would print the story if it went like this: "John Pioneer, who goes out and preaches 70 hours a month,..." and got the same results. Why differenciate between Joe Publisher and John Pioneer? Anyway, just my two cents.
